that there´s nothing a human wouldn´t do
to stay safe from the darkness that we know
from the darkness where we don´t  want go

I told Eddie in nineteen sixtyfive
"try to laugh while we run and are alive"
can´t recall why I ever said those words
might ´s well spoken to a buffalo herd

now that years are gone and Eddie is away
there are fewer who really want to stay
Eddie´s outdoor performance I admire
with just one match in that rain he made a fire
